New TB LiveXtension “Product Launch Switch” available

A new ToolBook 9 LiveXtension is now available: Product Launch Switch. When you double-click on a .TBK file, should your file open in Assistant or Instructor? If you only have Assistant installed or only have Instructor installed, then there is no doubt about which will open. However if you have both Assistant and Instructor installed, by default the one that is used to open your file is whichever one you most recently installed. This utility will permit you to specify which one should open by default when you double-click your file.

SumTotal ToolBook News - Update on availability of downloadable ToolBook 9.01 patch

ToolBook Instructor 9.01 and ToolBook Assistant 9.01 are now shipping.

The downloadable 9.01 patch for ToolBook Instructor 9.0 users did not go live by Christmas as planned. We apologize for missing this date. We are actively working on the downloadable 9.01 patch and will send out another update when it is ready for download.

New TB Mini Lesson: How to modify the text of a list box using the Actions Editor

Programmatically setting or getting the text of a field using the Actions Editor would seem to be straight forward - you just manipulate the Text property of the field object.

However unlike a regular text field, a single select listbox and multi select listbox field function a bit different when it comes to setting or getting the text using the Actions Editor. In fact there is no Text property for the single select listbox and multi select listbox fields available in the Actions Editor. Instead there is a ItemText property.

How to set up conditional branching logic based on a quiz score

CONDITIONAL SCORE LOGIC: The Score button in ToolBook will provide you with the ability to show the user their current score. For many of you this will be enough to meet your needs. Others will want to go a step further and perform different actions depending on the score.

To do this you will need to use the Actions Editor within ToolBook Instructor to analyze the score, and then set up some conditional behavior to occur based on that score. You will need to be familiar with the Actions Editor in order to implement this type of solution.

ToolBook 9.01 Ships

ToolBook Assistant 9.01 and ToolBook Instructor 9.01 have both been completed. This includes the Trial versions as well.

DETAILS

Specifically, this means that both products have been sent to manufacturing to have CD ROMs made and will then head over to the warehouse for shipping.

Customers who have a current Support or Maintenance contract will automatically be shipped 9.01 when it is ready for shipping. Sorry I can’t offer any specifics on when you might receive your copy. If you have questions about this, please contact your ToolBook sales rep.

Those customers who do not have a current Support or Maintenance contract, who own ToolBook Instructor 9.0, can obtain the 9.01 CD ROM for a nominal fee. Call ToolBook Sales at 866-SMTOTAL.

DOWNLOADABLE UPDATE

As with previous versions we do plan on offering a downloadable updater which will update a ToolBook Instructor 9.0 installation to 9.01. This updater is anticipated to be available by Christmas and will be easily accessible from the ToolBook FAQ at:
