In the past months, I have been staging for a rewrite of my books for the most anticipated Blackcomb release of ToolBook. Prior to this time, I had chosen not to rewrite the Introduction to ToolBook Instructor 8.5 for ToolBook Instructor 2004 since at the intro level, there were no real changes that affected the lessons in that book. I had, however, wrote an Actions Editor/Simulation/HTTP post book for Instructor 2004. To be prepared for a smooth transition to Blackcomb, I have done a slight revision of the Intro to 8.5 book to bring it up to date with Instructor 2004 SP3. Likewise, a few minor edits to the Actions Editor book to bring it up to date for SP3. Another goal I had was to reduce confusion as to what books to order for those just getting into ToolBook.
For those that have the Intro to 8.5 book, there is absolutely no need to buy this new book as it is for the most part what you already have minus some content (the tools module on PaintShop Pro, etc, for instance as well as some outdated multimedia stuff up front). Likewise, there is no need to buy the newer version of the Actions Editor book for 2004 if you have that one already since all I have covered now is a few new features.
Both of my books will be available for purchase at the upcoming TBCON for those of you that may not have the books yet. My plans moving forward is to sell previously published books on ToolBook as pdfs to reduce confusion, costs, inventory, and amount of time to get the books to anyone that is using a version of ToolBook prior to 2004.
