Attention TB Developers: I am planning on putting together a 2-day OpenScript school, strictly for beginners. No experience with OpenScript or any other programming language will be necessary. I will employ a method known as “Accelerated Learning” which gives you the tools to, in essence, teach yourself how to write any script that you desire. Of course, we couldn’t cover the entire scope of OpenScript in 2 days, but through this method, you’ll know the fundementals in a way where you’ll be able to figure out how to write a handler for most any function you desire.
Even if you are solely committed to build applications for web-based deployment (which doesn’t use OpenScript) you can still use Open Script to build utilities and speed up the development process through writing handlers that operate in the command window. For native, network, and neuron applications, OpenScript really unleashes the full power of ToolBook and OpenScript is what sets it above all other authoring tools for CBT apps using specific runtime files.
The date and tuition has not been set yet, but the location will most likely be in Columbus, Ohio, sometime this fall or early winter. The cost will depend upon the number of respondents. Most all the ToolBook schools are in the northwest, southwest, or east coast, so a midwest location should work well. Also, if most of the interested parties are clustered in another part of the country, we can move the school to a more central location.
I am a 10 year veteran of Toolbook and a 3 time presenter at TB Con and winner of the 2003 TB Con Hack Ack Award. If you are interested in this school, then send me an e-mail, off list, to wh@hurleylearning.com. As soon as I get a feel for the number of interested parties, I’ll set a tuition level, check for available dates, then notify you of the options.
I hope to hear from you who are interested in learning how to use this, most powerful Toolbook tool.
