Click2learn, leader in enterprise productivity solutions, announced today that the Merlin Training Facility, part of the United Kingdom’s 824 Naval Air Squadron based at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall, England, has chosen the Aspen Enterprise Productivity Suite™ to manage and deploy its 2500-lesson curriculum designed to support operation and maintenance of the Royal Navy’s new Merlin helicopters. Aspen will be employed in a variety of ways ranging from converting existing training to a Web-based format, to developing new content, to broad-scale learning management and training deployment. The Merlin Training Facility trains pilots, observers, air crewman and engineers to operate and maintain the Royal Navy’s new multi-role helicopter. The curriculum covers a range of career and professional training for personnel with varying degrees of aviation experience ranging from novices to experienced aircrew men and engineers converting from other Front Line helicopter types. The training curriculum is based on a central tenet of maintenance of flight safety and airworthiness. Aspen will allow the Merlin Training Facility to manage the curriculum in a closely configured environment in which real-world changes are flowed into the training system as soon as they occur.
