XP Controls

ToolBook, as of version 8.6, doesn’t support the native XP controls (e.g. buttons, combos, scroll bars, etc.). This free download emulates the main controls in the default Windows XP look and feel. If you’d like your ToolBook apps to use the XP look and feel or if you need to develop simulations of XP apps then this could save you a lot of effort (the programming on the scroll bar emulation was a bit of a labour of love).

The controls are pretty much self-contained but you need to make sure you take all the bitmap resources (eg. the button rollover and disabled bitmaps) across to your own book rather than just cutting and pasting the controls. The automatic resizing behaviour uses the included edgelock script which you can either put in your book script or use the system book download from elsewhere on this site.

If someone would like to package them up as a Catalog category then I’d be more than happy to publish it! I’ve had these controls kicking around on my hard disk for nearly a year and so thought I’d release them as-is in the hope that they would be useful to someone. Watch this space for documentation (or feel free to write some?)!
